Terms of Service

Last updated 3 October 2026

These terms govern your use of Darsy. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What Darsy is

Darsy is a marketplace. It connects students and parents with independent tutors and handles scheduling and payment. Darsy is not the tutor. Tutors are independent and are not our employees or agents. The teaching itself is an agreement between the student and the tutor.

2. Who may use it

You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and an in-person 1-on-1 session must be booked by a parent or guardian on your behalf. A parent may create and manage accounts for their children.

You must give accurate information, keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if someone else uses your account.

3. Tutors

Before appearing in search, a tutor must pass identity verification. Tutors are responsible for their own qualifications, tax obligations, and the quality and safety of their teaching. Tutors must hold the sessions they have accepted, be on time, and give as much notice as possible if they cannot.

The subjects a tutor teaches are reviewed by us before changing, because they determine what students can find and book.

4. Bookings and what things cost

Prices are set by the tutor, in Egyptian pounds, and shown before you pay. Darsy charges a platform fee of 15% of the tutor's price, with a minimum of 50 EGP per payment. The fee is added on top of the tutor's price, not taken out of it: the student pays the tutor's price plus the fee, and the tutor receives their full price. The fee is applied to each payment separately — each installment of a course, and each session of a course paid per session — so the 50 EGP minimum applies to each one. Every price shown in the app already includes it. Free trial sessions carry no fee.

We may change the platform fee, including its percentage and its minimum, at any time. The fee that applies to a payment is the one shown at checkout when you make it. A change never alters a payment already made, but it does apply to later payments on an existing booking, such as a course's second installment.

Three kinds of booking exist:

5. Free trials

Some group courses offer a free first session. After it you have 24 hours to continue or to cancel at no cost. If you do not decide within 24 hours the booking is cancelled automatically and you are charged nothing.

6. Cancellations and refunds

These rules are applied automatically by the app.

Single 1-on-1 sessions

You cancelRefund
More than 24 hours before the session100%
Between 5 and 24 hours before50%
Less than 5 hours beforeNone

Private courses

You may cancel at any time. You are refunded what you paid, less the sessions already delivered at the course's per-session rate. A session that starts within the next 24 hours counts as delivered, because the tutor can no longer fill that time.

Group courses

You may leave a group course at any time before the first installment is paid. After the first installment is paid it is not refundable, because the tutor has committed the schedule and the place to you. If a tutor cancels the course, you are refunded in full.

If a tutor cancels

You are refunded in full for any session a tutor cancels, whatever the notice.

Refunds are returned to your original payment method, which usually takes three to five business days, or credited to your Darsy wallet where you choose that option.

7. Payment

Payments are processed by Paymob. We do not receive or store your card details. If a payment is not completed, the booking is not confirmed, and any time reserved for it is released.

8. Behaviour

You may not use Darsy to harass, deceive or endanger anyone; to arrange payment outside the platform in order to avoid fees; to impersonate anyone; to post false reviews; or to break Egyptian law. For in-person sessions you must follow the safety guidelines shown in the app.

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. That covers anything you write or send through Darsy — messages, images, reviews, group requests and your profile. Content that is abusive, hateful, sexual, threatening or otherwise offensive is not allowed, and neither is harassing another user.

You can report any user, review or request from inside the app, and you can block a user so that neither of you can message the other. We review every report, normally within 24 hours, and will remove the content and suspend or remove the account responsible. We will usually tell that person why.

9. Reviews

You may review a tutor you have actually had a session with. Reviews must be honest and about the teaching. We remove reviews that are abusive, contain personal information, or are not genuine.

10. Our responsibility

We work to keep Darsy running and accurate, but we provide it as it is. We are not responsible for the conduct, teaching quality or punctuality of any tutor or student, and we do not guarantee any academic outcome. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited under Egyptian law, including for death, personal injury or fraud.

11. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Account → Delete account. Sessions already booked and paid for remain subject to the refund rules above.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Darsy after that means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Egypt have jurisdiction.
